Overview

The University of Sharjah (UoS) is pleased to announce the organization of its 1st Alumni International Conference, themed “Empowering Employability in the Era of Artificial Intelligence".

Registration Fees

Authors of accepted abstracts and papers are required pay registration fees for their participation. The registration fees will cover the cost of proceedings, conference materials and refreshments. Invited speakers will not be required to pay registration fees.

Alumni Office

The Alumni office aims to empower UoS graduates to navigate the challenges of the job market and offers valuable guidance for pursuing higher studies. It also serves as a platform for alumni to voice their opinions, concerns, and aspirations. Additionally, the Alumni office works hand in hand with its alumni to contribute to society, supporting the broader mission of the University of Sharjah.

  • H.E. Sheikh Fahim Bin Sultan Bin Khalid Al Qasimi
    H.E. Sheikh Fahim Bin Sultan Bin Khalid Al Qasimi Executive Chairman of The Department of Government Relations

    Sheikh Fahim is a respected member of The Executive Council of Sharjah, an organization established to assist the Ruler of the Emirate, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, in drafting policies to raise the social and economic development of the Emirate. In his role as the Executive Chairman of The Department of Government Relations, Sheikh Fahim leads the cooperation between Sharjah Government departments and International governments and NGOs. Working alongside the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates, the Department of Government Relations coordinates Sharjah’s international portfolio of trade, tourism, culture and educational ties across the globe. Prior to joining the Sharjah Government, he worked in strategic advisory and performance monitoring of a portfolio of state-owned assets in the UAE. With a background in public sector strategy and investments, he supported the Government in developing policies to achieve both financial and socio-economic returns in state-owned enterprises. Sheikh Fahim has been awarded the Grand Collar of the Order of Antonio José de Irisarri from the President of Guatemala. Sheikh Fahim serves as the Vice President of the Alliance Française of Sharjah. He holds a master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Cambridge and speaks four languages: English, Arabic, French, and German.

  • Dr. Amr Awadallah
    Dr. Amr Awadallah CEO and cofounder of Vectara

    Dr. Amr Awadallah is the CEO and cofounder of Vectara, a company that is enabling organizations to leverage GenAI in business applications by reducing risks from hallucinations, bias, copyright infringement, and model weight pollution.

    Amr previously served as VP of Developer Relations for Google Cloud. Prior to joining Google in Nov 2019, Amr co-founded Cloudera in 2008 and as Global CTO, he spent 11 years working closely with enterprises around the world on how to ingest and extract value from big data (he famously coined the concept of “schema-on-read vs schema-on-write”).

    He also served as vice president of product intelligence engineering at Yahoo! from 2000-2008. Amr joined Yahoo after they acquired his first startup, Aptivia, in mid-2000 which was a search engine for online product information. Amr received his PhD in EE from Stanford University, and his Bachelor and Master Degrees from Cairo University, Egypt.

    Dr. Mohamed Diab

    Mohamed Diab holds an MBA and serves as an adjunct faculty member, tech entrepreneur, public speaker, and consultant in digital health. With a foundation in pharmacy and drug manufacturing, he pursued a unique path by blending his scientific knowledge with self-taught artistry, driven by a passion for simplifying science through visual storytelling. In addition to leading his own business and conducting independent research, Mohamed leads a community initiative that mentors students and recent graduates in the emerging field of Biomedical Visualization, utilizing technologies like AI, Virtual and Augmented Reality. He also provides digital transformation consulting and medical communication services to pharmaceutical companies, helping them adapt to the evolving digital landscape.

  • Prof. Wadii Boulila
    Prof. Wadii Boulila Professor of Computer Science at Prince Sultan University, Saudi Arabia

    Wadii Boulila is a Professor of Computer Science at Prince Sultan University, Saudi Arabia. He has published over 200 papers in prestigious venues and has received several awards, including the Best Young Researcher Award (2021) and the Most Cited Researcher Award (2022). He has also been recognized among the top 2% of scientists. His research interests span computer vision, AI, big data analytics, and cybersecurity. Prof. Boulila is a Senior Member of IEEE, ACM, AAAI, and an SFHEA Fellow in the U.K.

  • Prof. Fevzi Okumus
    Prof. Fevzi Okumus Central Florida Hotel and Lodging Association Preeminent Chair Professor

    Professor Fevzi Okumus is the Central Florida Hotel and Lodging Association (CFHLA) Preeminent Chair Professor within the Hospitality Services Department at the University of Central Florida’s Rosen College of Hospitality Management. He was the Founding Chair of the Hospitality Services Department at UCF Rosen College. His main teaching and research areas include strategic management, leadership, hospitality management, services marketing, training, and lodging. He has over 330 academic publications (over 210 refereed journal articles, seven books, 12 book chapters, and 90 conference presentations and reports). As of October 2nd, 2024, his publications have received 28,070 citations, and he has an h-index of 76. He has chaired/co-chaired and served on numerous PhD dissertation and master thesis committees. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management (IJCHM) (Impact Factor: 9.1) and the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Insights (JHTI) (Impact Factor: 4.8). He is a frequent speaker at international conferences. He has received numerous prestigious research awards and recognitions including “The Michael D. Olsen Research Award” in 2016; “The University of Central Florida Scroll & Quill Society Award” in 2017, the “CFHLA Preeminent Professor” again in 2017, and the John Wiley & Sons Lifetime Research Achievement Award from ICHRIE in 2018. Finally, Prof. Okumus was recognized as a “Highly Cited Researcher” in 2021; 2022, and 2023 by Clarivate, based on data from the Web of Science. Highly Cited Researchers™ are 1 in 1,000 of the world’s population of scientists and social scientists.
